Alim Qasimov

Alim Hamza oghlu Qasimov is one of the most revered and influential mugham singers of our time. Widely celebrated for his powerful voice, emotional depth, and improvisational mastery, he has become a defining figure in the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan and a global ambassador of mugham.

Born in 1957, Alim Qasimov has dedicated his life to the art of traditional Azerbaijani music. In recognition of his artistic achievements and cultural contribution, Qasimov was awarded the prestigious UNESCO International Music Council Music Prize in 1999. This honour places him alongside global icons such as Ravi Shankar, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and Yehudi Menuhin.
